Other
Sporting Events
In addition
to being the new home of Bearcat basketball, The Events Center’s
design allows flexibility to host a variety of sporting events.
The contained arena playing surface equals a full-sized
soccer field in size and can accommodate four practice basketball,
volleyball or tennis courts. The facility has welcomed many sporting
events throughout the year, from summer 2004 when the Empire
State Games came to Binghamton University.
The Events Center has hosted the 2005 Choice Hotels International and 2006 America East Conference Men's basketbal tournaments, the 2007 America
East Womens Championship tournament, and the 2008 America East Men's Basketball Tournament.
Binghamton University hosted the 2004 New York State Empire State Games Opening Ceremonies in the Events Center with nearly 10,000 people attending, and plans include hosting events for the 2008 Games.
