Kevin Broadus began his first season as the head
coach of the Binghamton basketball program in 2007-
08. Broadus is the 11th head coach in
Binghamton’s 60 years of basketball and the second
since the school made the jump to Division I in 2001.
He took over the Bearcats after spending the prior three
years as an assistant coach for Georgetown.
From the inaugural game at the Events Center in January 2004 to
the highly-successful 2005 America East Championship, fans have
flocked to the $33 million state-of-the-art basketball arena to
cheer on the Bearcats. Binghamton has led the America East in attendance
in each of the last four years. The Bearcats drew an average crowd of 3,206 in 2006-07.
Binghamton hosted the first three rounds of the America East Championship for the third time
in the last four years. The tournament was held March 7-9 at the Events Center. Binghamton drew
more fans for the 2008, 2006, and 2005 event than other sites in the last six years of the tournament.
The Bearcats have already gained regional and national exposure
- thanks to marquis players, strong scheduling and broadcast exposure.
Binghamton has increased its national profile with an appearance
in the preseason NIT and games against perennial NCAA powers
Syracuse, Kansas, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Chicago State, and Central Connecticut State.
Binghamton has been equally aggressive in the media market, where
the school secured a conference-best four televised games in 2004-05,
in addition to offering all 29 home and away games on live radio
that was streamed on the internet. All 2007-08 games were streamed live with full audio and video.

Rich Conover completed his fifth full season at the helm of the Binghamton women’s basketball program. He has led the Bearcats to four consecutive
top-half finishes in the America East Conference and in 2004, he was named the America East Conference
Coach of the Year. Under Conover’s leadership, the Bearcats have advanced
to the America East Conference semifinals the past two seasons.
Binghamton carried at least a No. 5 seed into the past four
America East Tournaments and has gone 37-31 in conference
play since Conover assumed the role of head coach midway
through the 2002-03 season. In addition, the Bearcats have gone
37-18 in home games.
The women played host to the 2007 America East Championship
at the Events Center, where the Bearcats averaged 1,557 fans per
game last season. That figure ranked second in the 10-team league.
Binghamton men's and women's basketball coaches and players reach
out to the community throughout the year. The team hosts free clinics,
visits community schools and makes young children an integral part
of every game night. Through their athletic and academic achievement,
sportsmanship and community service, the Bearcats are positive role
models for kids of all ages.
All 2007-08 games were streamed live with full audio and video.
